So the world that we going to discuss, that we are talking about, is the world of mind, which is perception of world, one's version of world -- which is, in some sense, a true world, and on the other hand this is, in some sense, it's relative world. And we don't have to make our mind up which is which, particularly. Space, this case, becomes more like sky because very few of us have been to the outer space, except only one or two people. [Laughs] And that our version of outer space is that of the sky -- as we look up we see the moon and the sun and stars and traditionally it's called sky, which sits on the top of this earth. And mistakenly we begin to see blue in color, and there is rising and falling of the sun and moon. And you can fly closest to it in airplane or if you're a bird, and-- but you can't cover completely. And we have to land again because of problem of shortage of fuel and energy [laughs] and food, if you're a bird. And that's our version of the world of space. And traditionally known as like the sky, therefore, and it is the counterpart of the earth, needless to say. And that particular space tend to bring some sense of sympathy, a sympathetic atmosphere to the earth. That it encourages earth to exist by providing all kinds of spacious activities -- is sponsoring rain and snow and growth of plant, and all kinds of spaces that it sponsors, potter's wheel and pot on it and sponsors pots to break. And that particular space is-- that particular compassion or love is-- has different functions. Its functions sometimes is... create a harmony and relationship together, and sometimes it creates destruction, which is another form of harmony in some sense. That the process is developed and because of the process is begin to relate with each other. The end product of destruction and harmony, so-called, is purely a conventional idea. If you look at general and basic energy activities, that there is some kind of mutual basis of things working together on the particular situation. And that when energies occurred, it begin to project on the situation and the situation is begin to move through the space. And the situation becomes-- begin to manufacture all kinds of event. The spaciousness creates the destructive or sort of vacant realm, in which that things can't be latched on and you can't make a nest out of it. And the element of maitri or loving-kindness begin to produce a sense of texture and solid kind of reality, solid reality. And it seems that in the some sense that we all possess that kind of feminine principle in all of us, in all our state of being, that we have that kind of feminine aspect, whether we are man or woman, whatever. If there is no decisions be made that is easy to make decisions. Or if decisions be made and fall apart, we could remake decisions again. Which also is a part of that, that which is in fact represents in our state of being is that of the thought process, which acts in the midst of nonthought process -- which is also another form of thought. So out of nonthinking, absence of thinking, which is energy activity that building up like a vacuum -- out of that that a thought occurred, and a thought begin to work itself out, and it begin to sprout its arms and legs and begin to execute various decisions. And in fact begin to be very fast and very speedy one. And begin to achieve some kind of purposes, whether they are absurd ones or whether they are absolutely good ones or solid ones, whatever -- who cares that point? And something is achieved. It's an acquisition of sharp perception. Can be achieved through practice of meditation. And popularly meditation is known as purely development of steadiness and openness and intuition, level of intuitiveness. But somehow that if you relate with the practice of meditation in connection with feminine principles that practice of meditation is also regarded and it becomes acquisition of intelligent perception. And reason why is that practice of meditation, when person is begin to sit and meditate you don't get into the stream of the activities or speed or busyness or whatever. Somewhat you learn to find-- you learn to step back and view it again. And you don't particularly try and cultivate a learning, analytical mind, particularly, but at the same time you learn to see how things work, without particularly analytical way, but purely from the perception then you gain some logic. You begin to get some logic, some sense of understanding how things work, way things work. And that's how the-- she gave birth to all the buddhas is to attainment of enlightenment. In this case it's quite simply a keen perception that will be able to see the world without misunderstanding, without confusion, and clearly and fully the apparent phenomena play of the principles, feminine principles particularly. That seem to be the basic point. So meditation is the only way of subjugating the uncontrolled by energies of feminine principle. And meditation in itself is a prajna-- act of prajna from that point of view, and therefore it is in itself feminine principle. So therefore the whole process here is not so much of that masculine principle and feminine principle having a war, but it's the feminine principle of seeing yourself as it is, like you are looking at your palm and reading your palm and it's part of you and therefore you can see it.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://cti.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2230/collection_resources/129050/file/241890#t=957.0,1047.0"},{"id":"https://cti.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2230/collection_resources/129050/file/241890/transcript/67304/annotation/17","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"It seems that the principle of the masculine side is quite interesting one again. That it's the accommodation of everything that allows the feminine principle to act. And that somewhat this masculine principle is somewhat stubborn and solid and maybe it's... slow. Not particularly necessarily slow as such, but the feminine principle begin to create the contrast, so when somebody is going faster then there is somebody slower takes place, that kind of natural contrast. And it also lends another kind of energy, which is that of earth, rather than that of sky. It has the journey upward quality rather journey downward quality. And at the same time, instead of the softness of maitri principle that we discussed and sympathetic, and the masculine principle seem to have a very angry kind of state of being, and highly complaining and resentful somehow that you have to go through the space in order to achieve something. So then would that come into the category of the feminine principle-- I mean the masculine principles? [Laughter] Is that what it is playing with?\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: The attributes, did you say?\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER1: Yeah. [INAUDIBLE] the attributes.\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: No, I think that's the kind of-- that's been happening with some purpose, obviously. The embellishment cannot take place without purpose, and obviously the purpose is to subjugate or seduce the critical energy, which is the masculine energy, to seduce that. It's more likely that-- in fact the makeups are more likely the way to intimidate the masculine principle, which is like Africans paint their face before they have fight or something.\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER1: So then the embellishment-- the taking on the embellishment, is somewhat relating with that masculine principle?\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Yeah, it is been instigated through that principle, yeah.\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER1: But when you originally were talking about the mother principle, you didn't-- it would seem like that was alone or it was just first and that that was it, that there was nothing else around it [INAUDIBLE]--\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Sure. Well if you look at as from that point of view as being alone, whether you have to be alone in somewhere, you can't just be alone, otherwise it wouldn't be alone. [Laughter]\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER1: The whole question is about if the feminine principle is not alone because it's in somewhere, which is in the masculine principle--\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: No, that's not the point. The feminine principle *is* alone. And consequently the discovery is that you find everything is apparently empty, because of things are very crowded, which is a somewhat acute perception of contrast transcending contrast itself. You see through the trips of the contrast, and therefore you see the reference point and contrast are filled the whole universe and you begin to see through that. And you don't try to get rid of them particularly; you take the whole thing in. And by result of that you find your mind is empty, which is a shunyata kind of principle.
