It has been said that, in the scriptures, those who have studied or practiced the hinayana path with absolute diligent, absolute discipline, patience, can only free from the ego of concept. That the sword cuts both the user and that to be used. So it's a simultaneous blow in the two directions. We can't do the same thing again on the basis of the first experience of knowledge -- we are not doing the same thing, at all. It's a direct attitude of complete revolution. Like supposing we say that-- we could say that if the idea of revolution is based on framework of society, then you're not really presenting the true revolution because you have become conservative. Your logic of revolution is based on the framework of reference of what's been happening in society, so you become conservative. And from that sense, in the true revolution is that which does not depend on confirmations of existing structure of anything at all, but something completely original, something completely unoriginated in some sense. That even the viewer is being questioned, rather than what you perceived. So that prajnaparamita or transcendental knowledge is, from that sense, we could say, transcendental paranoia, in some sense. You still have ground, you are still dwelling on some kind of nest, from that sense. But when you begin to paranoid by the paranoia-- the instigator of the paranoia itself, then the sword of Manjushri begin to exist from that sense, because it cuts any reference point of view at all. You are absolutely paranoid. That there is no room to be paranoid. Whole ground is blown. It's complete, hundred-percent or two-hundred-percent boycotting the strategy of ego from that sense. And positively, is it could be-- is the experience of prajna something indescribable, [INAUDIBLE] is like the experience of being or experience of oneness with all that is-- all that you are aware of--\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Well I suppose we could say it is experience of precision. That it is so precise that every situation comes up from instigator from the what being received by the instigation, the questions. So it's complete precision, highest form of intellect, which does not allow any room to manipulate, so it's fundamentally healthy, fundamentally invincible from that sense.\r\n\r\n\r\nBut it seems that by using the negative languages, have a tremendous advantage which you find in the Buddhist literatures a great deal, that most of the dialogues or discourses in the scriptures always a negative situation, negative inclined -- that \"this is not, this is not, that is not, that is not.\" Always rejecting, constantly. That seem to be the nature of the style of presenting, so that the idea is that having rejected everything, every ground, to get confused, that rejection itself is the act of ultimate positive thinking. Whereas if you're trying to build something, you're sort of trying to set up some kind of target, and you're making yourself vulnerable. That you are building up something, so then someone says, \"That may be so, but if this is not that, then what happens?\" So it becomes shaky ground, from that sense. So the idea of using negative language has a tremendous advantage. And it is not fundamentally negative, it's the absolute positive thinking. That \"if that is-- this is not that, that is not this.\" So therefore what is there is that whole basic, solid thing. Because negative situation been already dealt with, so that you can't be attacked from any other directions at all. And in this case prajna is also that precision and sharpness which dealt with already negative situations, so becomes invincible, sharp sword.\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER1: Yeah, what bothered me or what raised the question is in [D.T] Suzuki  in the MYSTICISM CHRISTIAN AND BUDDHIST he tended to emphasize the positive, referring to experience of being, experience of what is. As if the quality of perception, the quality of awareness of whatever the object of awareness was, was radically changed. That it was, you know, substantially different than what it had been [INAUDIBLE]. And I was just trying to get-- the idea of just-- [INAUDIBLE] describing a little what the new experience would be compared to the old one was.\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Well, I mean it is a question of being, but at the same time that that basic situation of being had to be invincible, otherwise you can't be, because you be distracted by something else. Your basic quality is being distracted, or seduced, or whatever.\r\n\r\n\r\nIn other word the-- well you see the one of the basic important point is that the transcendental knowledge experience is not dwelling on something, it's not indulging on the transcendental knowledge, but constantly being active, constantly applying itself every directions, simultaneously. So that's nature of being. So that on the whole the spiritual path from Buddhist point of view is therefore not regarded as devoid of activity, but you gain further energy, and energy is synonym for being, from that sense, from Buddhist point of view. Because it is been said as the knowledge and compassion are interdependent, like fish and water. So it's constantly active, constantly dealing with some situations. It's very extroverted kind of approach. In other word there is some kind of sense of delight having emotions, that you can at least relate with something. It's another way of solving the problem of loneliness, or solving the problem of desolation of losing grip, that one tend to put out primitive sense of emotions. But, I mean, conflicting sense is illogical, in other word, conflicting means illogical, but nevertheless we do not particularly think terms of how to be logically psychologically. But one just put out all kinds of attempt to maintain itself. But here you seem to be saying that the ego of individuality is much more sort of sophisticated, at least it seems to me like you're saying that it's much more central than the ego [INAUDIBLE], the ego of dharma. Is that what you're saying? In other words you said the other one, the ego of individuality, is much more sort of central to the whole thing?\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Which one's more central?\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER3: Would you say that the ego of individuality is more central than the ego of dharma, or would you say the opposite?\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Well, I think ego of individuality is more powerful and more subtle, because ego of individuality has the element of spiritual materialism in it, of trying to gain something, trying to put yourself into certain categories, like primitive ideas of reality, about reality. Precisely the reality's been distorted by certain beliefs that the reality is the-- the only reality there is is the attainment of egohood. That to get some definite, positive reinforcement so that you can maintain yourself without giving yourself up.\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER3: What meditation practices deal with that? [INAUDIBLE] the dharma [INAUDIBLE]?\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Well, it's extension of mahavipashyana which extend to shunyata, quite more likely that of shunyata. So, we could say that the ultimate paranoia, in this case, is the sense of \"anatta\", or \"egolessness\", as being known to Buddhist tradition.\r\n\r\n\r\nSPEAKER3: Is that like being the-- in the \"chonyi\"-- the bardo [INAUDIBLE] when, you know, you have the first [INAUDIBLE], subject to the images and loses his ego?\r\n\r\n\r\nTRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Well I mean that's the more experiential, impulsive kind of experience rather than logical one. This case when we're trying to relate with the prajnaparamita, or the transcendental knowledge, in this case it is more of using the highest form of intellect to destroy the intellect of itself. Which is slightly different, it's more analytical, highest way of using the analogy. And the-- in the case of chonyi bardo or that kind of situation, it is more of result of natural evolution thing comes out of starting the practice of meditation, a more intuitive one. That there's already problematic situations already, so we're trying to reform them. So sense of dealing with something is the-- has sense of reformation, of rehabilitation idea. So that idea of itself, the dealing with something, is to begin with have to go. That you are not really dealing as-- with a situation, as it's a problematic situation, but it is path.\r\n\r\n\r\nBut once we begin to accept as being part of the path, then sense of dealing, or sense of challenge, or sense of one situation related with another one does not apply anymore at all. Like when you talk to your friends, relate with your friends, if you're a close associate with that per-- particular person, you don't deal with that person, you just relate with that person, which is quite different. So it's a question of relating with it, rather than regarding as a problematic situation, and that opens tremendous possibilities. That seem to be the attitude rather than style. As far as the styles goes, that you don't have a style. But once you aba-- you are giving style, you are still dealing with it. So it seem that one have to just leap into the situation of relating with it rather than dealing with it. So, from that sense there's no style at all, none whatsoever, or technique. And nobody's going to present to you as how to con that particular sense, how to use that up, or how to overcome that, but how to relate with it.
