Series: Public Seminar: Nine Yanas I (10 talks, 1973, San Francisco, Audio)

This landmark seminar presents the entire scope of the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual path. These talks signaled the introduction of the complete overview of tantra by Trungpa Rinpoche for the first time in the West. The nine yanas, or practice vehicles on the path to liberation, are subdivisions within the larger three yanas of hinayana, mahayana, and vajrayana (also known as tantra), according to the Nyingma tradition. The nine yanas are described here in detail as they unfold and expand from one to the next. This seminar took place not long before Trungpa Rinpoche's first Vajradhatu Seminary program in the fall of 1973, which was then followed by a second seminar on the nine yanas in Boulder, Colorado. These two seminars were published together in book form as "The Lion's Roar: An Introduction to Tantra" (1992).
