"Open Secret" was a radio program broadcast from Naropa Institute beginning in 1974,  as panel discussions before a live audience.  Moderated by Duncan Campbell, then a student of Chogyam Trungpa, the discussions covered a range of topics relevant to Naropa, including "Spirituality in America," "The Origins of Neurosis," "Psychology East and West," and notably, an interview with Chogyam Trungpa and Francesca Fremantle on their new co-translation of The Tibetan Book of the Dead. Other panelists in the series include noted anthropologist Gregory Bateson, vipassana teacher Joseph Goldstein, spiritual teachers Jakusho Kwong Sensei and Ram Dass, and experimental psychologists Stanislav Grof and Joan Halifax. Discussions were generally spontaneous and sometimes even heated -- particularly between Chogyam Trungpa and Ram Dass -- highlighting some of the major debates taking place in America at the time regarding approaches to spirituality. Other topics in the series include the role of the therapist, mindfulness in everyday life, the relationship of meditation and intellect, and the role of the teacher and tradition.  Duncan Campbell went on to host a popular radio interview program, "Living Dialogues," which is still broadcast on public radio station WKGN.
