Series: Public Seminar: Practice of Meditation on the Bodhisattva Path (4 talks, 1972, San Francisco, Audio)

The second of three seminars Trungpa Rinpoche gave on the bodhisattva path in 1972 , in the early days of the San Francisco Dharmadhatu, then located in the noted jazz drummer Jerry Granelli's loft. The talks introduce the three essential paths within the mahayana: the six paramitas, the five paths, and the ten bhumis, in such a way as to draw the connections between them. The seminar also communicates key principles of mahayana practice altogether, including generosity, compassion, and working with others, beginning with taking the bodhisattva vow and progressing to complete enlightenment. The Q&A periods (despite sometimes spotty audio!) are fascinating windows onto the seriousness of purpose and dedication of early students of Tibetan Buddhism in America.
