Series: Public Seminar: Growth of Spirituality in North America (2 talks, 1972, Minneapolis, Audio)

A substantive two-talk seminar that is an introduction to Tibetan Buddhism, its basic view, how it arrived in America, and specifically how it interacts with American karma. Buddhism is described as working simply with the mind, and includes confusion as part of the path. Meditation is framed as essential to genuine spiritual practice, and as a means of addressing the speed and aggression so prevalent in America. Specifically it helps awaken compassion toward oneself and others. Describes how confusion arises, and how meditation works to unlearn it. Many of the questions in this seminar focus on similarities and differences between Buddhism and Christianity, and Buddhism and Western psychology.
